While this is NOT a great Bluegrass banjo, nor does it have that "Round Peak" sound, this banjo has a feel and crack of the banjos played by Roscoe Holcomb and other "thumb lead" Kentucky musicians. It is a 50 year old. well-cared for Vega "Wonder" VW-5 model, made by Martin during their brief affair with Vega banjos.. The multi ply maple rim assembly features a simple rolled tonering, four piece flange, dual coordination rods; Martin stamp present above serial number; fully bound resonator. The three piece maple neck has a 27" scale length bound ebony fingerboard with dot inlayst; 1-1/4" wide nut; Vega logo on front, Martin logo on back, both in silk screen. A few dings present on the peghead and resonator, and light fret wear. Includes a letter of verification from early 1990s from Mike Longworth on Martin stationary (cool!).
