From Portland, OR based builder Brooks Masten, this is a quirky, ingenius conversion banjo, combining an early 38 bracket, metal clad 10.5" diameter rim assembly, with a new 25.5" scale mahogany neck built in the same style. The rim features new brass hardware from the maker, with a wire armrest and No Knot tailpiece. The mahogany neck has a thick ebony fingerboard, comfortable 1-3/8" wide nut, with gold plated two band Rickard geared tuners; built with tapered frailing scoop…a great combination of old and new…. a very lightweight and extremely playable banjo with archetypical "chime".
