A fine option for the South Paw!
The Taylor 500 series offer up some of the nicer upgrades, with a price point currently in the $3000+ range. Here we have a well loved, but very nice playing 514c model - Grand Auditorium body size with a Florentine cutaway - built left handed. Originally introduced in 1994, this earlier example showcases some of the upgrades available on this model, including a Western Red Cedar top with Mahogany back & sides. A standard Taylor Tropical Mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, this particular example has
custom inlay around its typical MOP dot. Fully bound neck, top, back & sides & Grover tuners - this is a real choice instrument without too high of a dollar for its quality. Sonically, it has a lot of detail in the top end with a crispy bass response - making it a great option for any finger style player, and certainly well for a strummer albeit a bit quieter than its dreadnaught cousin, the 510.
As mentioned, this example comes to us well used by its previous owner, and has its fair bit of pick wear present. Some clear adhesive was added to this guitars bass side upper bout to prevent any further wear - which has began to lift at the soundhole. Nicks are present along with some surface level cracks in the finish, but otherwise there are no cracks and this guitar is structurally sound. While this guitar is missing its internal label, it does have the serial stamp present indicating its '96 build date. The neck was likely removed for a simple angle adjustment which results in its current easy playability. The neck is straight with low action that measures a comfortable 5-6/64" in height at the twelfth fret. It has a 1.75" nut width, and a standard 25.5" scale length. This was outfitted with a simple but nice sounding, passive pickup.
Comes with the original hardshell case.
