Dick Deneve was a well regarded luthier for resonator guitars based out of Pennellville NY. Most of the builds we've seen range from the 1970's through the 90's, with much of his fan base residing in this region. Ultimately a pretty rare instrument that is well regarded amongst the niche that have had the opportunity to play them.
This Square Neck is a very well made instrument. Constructed out of a laminate rosewood, it has a bit of heft but sonically is very pleasing. Internally this instrument is fairly uniquely built, with a forward thinking carbon fiber rod extending from the heel block to its end pin. It produces a nice warm, and robust bass response with plenty of low end - probably ideal for a player who's doing some accompanying. It has a well constructed, traditional spider cone and two vents in its upper bout. Double bound with cream binding and abalone, it is quite the attractive instrument. It has a 25" scale length and 2" nut width. Open slot head, it's tuners function as they should, the back of the peg head. We enjoy the unique MOP inlay for fret lines - a nice touch.
Cosmetically this guitar is in really good condition, with most of its wear in it's chrome hand rest at the resonator cover. Some light surface wear, this guitar has tuned up and plays well.
Includes original hardshell case.
