A classic flat top from the Gibson lineup, the Advanced Jumbo was introduced in 1936, and became a highly coveted flat top amongst players and collectors alike. This example from the Historic line, dating to 2005. Built in Bozeman Montana, this example comes to us in good condition, playing great - but with a lowered saddle due to a relatively poor factory neck angle (off by maybe an 1/8"). Cosmetically and structurally this guitar is clean with otherwise no issue, and again plays well with a straight neck, clean frets, and otherwise low action that measures only about 4/64" in height. The guitar has volume and great bass response that these are known for. The body is constructed out of an Adirondack spruce top with indian rosewood back and sides - fully bound and with Gibson's iconic burst and firestripe pickguard. Internally, it has a forward shifted, scalloped X bracing, and thin maple bridge plate (stamped "#10 Long Short AJ"). Cosmetically the lacquer finish is nice and clean with only very mild nicks present in the top. The neck is designed with a long 25.5" scale length, 1 3/4" nut width, and is made of stained mahogany, with a bound & nibbed rosewood fingerboard with era correct MOP inlay. The neck is straight, and the frets are clean, but as mentioned, taking a straight edge from the end of the fingerboard extension results in a displacement at the bridge of about 1/8". The original saddle was compromised in the process, being lowered such that it shows about 4/64" visibly over the slot. Regardless it projects well and still retains the oomf that these guitars are known for - the action measuring a very comfortable 4/64" in height even at the twelfth fret. Mild finish shrinkage present around the MOP Gibson inlay at the peg head. Includes the original hardshell case with blue interior. No paperwork.
