Gibson's ladder braced guitars, are some finger pickers favorites - with slightly smaller neck shapes, and a nice dry sound thats great for recordings. The LG-0 is one such instrument, and this example is a sure candidate for some recording and possible gigs; an exceptional sounding example, with great ease to play, and richness in tone. While not commanding the same price points as other Gibson acoustics, these well made machines are a league of their own, and this one is ready for a new career of songwriting.This 1960's LG-0 likely dates to '64 with its 153764 serial number, but no FON is present to further authenticate. The Mahogany LG body shows checking throughout its thin satin'd finish. with abundant surface scratching, and two glued cracks on the back near the lower bout, with notable binding shrinkage/gap throughout, some chipping on top lower bout edges; original red pickguard with no screws. Replacement rosewood bridge, with later small rosewood plate atop big maple. The mahogany neck has a 24-3/4” scale length, with 1-11/16” wide nut; neck was expertly reset and guitar plays with low action, with adjustable truss rod, and tall saddle; frets appear original with some mild pitting, and tuners are upgraded; some cosmetic wear present on back of neck, around peghead edges. Includes later chipboard case, perhaps original.
