Rare "Special" model from Bacon's Professional "FF" series, this example sports the rare Forest Dale VT plaque, and the build can be attributed to Rhettberg & Lange (Orpheum). The highly flamed maple has a 28" scale length extended pearwood fingerboard, with Orpheum-esque unengraved pearl inlay, notably a proud flower pot in the peghead; 1-3/16" nut width; neck was previously refretted, has added spikes, some wear on back, and light forward relief. The internal resonator rim assembly measures 11-5/8" in diameter, with "wave" shaped cutouts on back, with a thick block of marquetry on the exterior...more delicate on the back; dowel stick marked "Special"; equipped with later No Knot tailpiece; some of the small wooden pieces of the outter marquetry block have popped slightly, and were adhered down at some point.
