William King is a highly regarded builder, who has a reputation built on studying classic instruments. This all Koa tenor uke dates to 2008, and features fine details in its structure that yield a classic & open vintage style tone - all in one of the most stunning ukes to grace our shop!
The peanut body is constructed with a high grade quilted koa, with nice flame on its sides. A marquetry zipper on its center seam, along with a very nice rope style marquetry binding. Internally, it has a light weight fan bracing. The bridge is made of all ebony, and fitted with nice matching pins and saddle. The lower bout measures 9" across, and the length from the base to the heel measures about 13".
The neck is made of Spanish cedar with an ebony fingerboard, with a simple dot inlay on the 5th and 7th. The neck joins the body at the twelfth fret with a Spanish style heel internally. The neck is nice and thin with a wider nut width that measures 1.5". Nice tall vintage profile frets show no wear. Pegheads geared tuners give the look of a classic pressure peg, without the hassle. The nicely cut headstock rounds out this beautiful instrument from this champion builder. In fantastic original condition, there is very light finish checking along the back seam, and extremely light cosmetic surface wear present. Includes violin hard case.
