Rarely seen William Cole Eclipse with 5000 appointments and ornate inlay, including butterfly/fancy inlays on the peghead face, with multiple layers of veneer beneath the bound fingerboard. The 10-7/8" rim is bound on the exterior and complete with "cobra" hooks, and Eclipse tonering; black painted exterior; original hardware apart from tailpiece. The neck features gorgeous engraved pearl inlay throughout, boasting a butterfly at the fifth fret, and a boat heel; common surface wear on the peghead overlay; the frets appear to be recent; uncarved heel likely special. The banjo plays well with only light forward relief; nylon setup w/ 1/2" bridge. The tuners are metal friction pegs with mother of pearl buttons.
