This rare banjo is a great example of Banjo craftsmanship from Philadelphia, PA. Weymann instruments are known for their banjos and guitars, as well as mandolins and other various stringed instruments. Their logos hold the "Keystone State" motto. This particular banjo was offered in the 1925 Weymann instrument catalogue as a Banjo Ukulele, a banjo which is tuned to a ukulele utilizing ukulele strings. This banjo is particularly rare as it is a style 225-A, meaning it was ordered with the Weymann patented friction fit resonators as seen on their Orchestra line of banjos. The banjo itself is an amazing sounding and playing instrument. The calfskin head is in great shape with good tension and no rips or tears. The friction tuners are solid and hold the tune. The scale length is longer than most banjo ukuleles, making this a great solo or accompanying instrument. The Weymann patented neck adjuster works perfectly, changing the angle of the neck to reach any desired action for this instrument. The detachable resonator holds well and is not loose. The instrument comes with the original hard shell 225-A case which properly holds the instrument with the resonator attached.
