Marvelous 17 fret tenor conversion banjo utilizing an original 10-1/8" diameter Tubaphone rim assembly from 1920, and a slightly later 17 fret Style X No. 9 neck from 1922. From a banjo mandolin, the pot has all original nickel plated hardware including bracket band, tension hoop, hooks and nuts, with flamed maple pie plate resonator/corresponding hardware; some wear present on back of rim on end-cap, with light tarnish on metal parts; setup with an original four string No Knot tailpiece. The highly ornamented neck has a fully bound, 21" scale, three piece flamed maple neck, with elegantly carved heel, long back strap, and finely engraved pearl inlay on the heel cap, back of peghead, with No. 9 style inlays on the peghead overlay, and down the fretboard; setup with spring loaded Grover tuners; notable "medium" pitting present on original frets, but the banjo plays/intonates well up the neck with little to no forward relief, and comfortably low action with 5/8" high bridge; 1-3/16" nut width. Includes original hard shell case.
