The Santa Cruz Guitar Company was started in 1976 by master luthier Richard Hoover. Hoover has always honored the instruments of yesteryear and their time tested craftsmanship, having developed his own line which nods to the past. The time tested design of the OM is one that delivers power and articulate definition - suitable for players with a pick and certainly finger style alike. The understated appointments on the Pre War series offered by Santa Cruz makes room for better quality materials and the higher craftsmanship that this brand has become world renowned for. This OM was purchased recently and dates appropriately to 2024. It is constructed with a light blonde Sitka Spruce top, and straight grained Indian rosewood back & sides. Internally, it has a thin maple bridge plate, and advanced scalloped X bracing pattern (forward shifted like that of a pre '38). Inherently open in tone, this guitar for being new has a beautiful boom to it with substantial volume and crystal clear clarity. The dark Mahogany neck joins the body at the 14th fret, and is designed with a 25.5" scale length. An ebony fingerboard and vintage size frets feel great in every register, coupled with the era inspired soft V profile and 1.75" nut width. Open gear Waverly tuners and the nice curled Santa Cruz logo decorate the headstock nicely. This guitar comes to us hardly used by the original owner. Without a mark on it, the neck is straight, the action low measuring 5/64" in height at the twelfth fret of the sixth string, and 4/64" on the first - the saddle standing strong with about 6/64" visible above the slot. Includes original Ameritage hardshell case.
