"The Greatest Quality of Musical Tone Concentrated In A Small Body", S. S. Stewart's Piccolo banjo was designed for the higher registers of the very popular Banjo Orchestra ensembles of the day, even marketing said banjo as a "Little Wonder". The spun-over German silver rim assembly measures just seven inches in diameter, with maker/trade/serial-number stamps on the dowel and faux-rosewood interior wall; equipped with 1888 patent tailpiece from W.m. Gerke (Providence, Rhode Island). The one piece cherry neck 15" scale length ebony fretboard w/ 1-1/8" diameter nut width, and original celluloid friction tuners; a nice little player with straight neck/low action, there are some chips, scuffs, and dings present throughout, with what seems to be a very well-repaired grain-related stress separation on driver's side of heel. Includes high quality bottom loading leather case built in style of an original.
