Uncommon doesn't even begin to scratch the surface on how esoteric this Rickenbacker is... this rare and unique model from the Rickenbacker catalog of yesteryear, here we have a 3/4 sized Capri 12 string, of the non-F hole'd 320 model in the black "Jetglo" finish. While this almost seems to weird to be true, it has a correct serial number stamp for '64, as well as matching pots, and marks a transitional year for the company where F holes were added to all the Capri's, while having the 5 knob lay out (which had been made standard in '63) - perhaps a mystery, but how would this otherwise have come to be? Outfitted with a 4001 Bass truss rod cover, this is certainly strange, but maybe can be explained due to the headstock break it had prior to its arrival here to our shop.

The body has a 12 7/8" lower bout. It appears to have original routing with a correct Jet Glo black finish, with checking and wear present (nicks and dings along its edge). All pickup routes are clean and appear accurate. The tailpiece has been replaced with a proper "R" style, but similar examples can be seen with a more proto-typical design, and some 6 string models known for having a tremolo. Original pickguard, with a replaced shark fin top. Presumably original pots present, with all dating to 1964 (all at the 50th week, less one from the 34th). The wiring and caps appears original, albeit slightly faulty, with a slightly complicated knobs scheme for Neck/Middle pickup tones, with a tone cap wired directly to its neck. The low output pickups sound great and allow the user to open up the amp a bit more, or compress the front of it more ala in the style of Roger McGuinn. A few screws have been replaced on its middle pickup.

The guitar is designed as a "3/4" size, complete with a 21" scale length (yes, 21" scale measured 10.5" from nut to the twelfth fret and doubled). Set neck design, it has the standard finished over rosewood fingerboard against its black profile. This has a narrow nut width for a 12 string, measuring 1 1/16", maybe appropriate for this ones sizing, but a little to get used to from a full scale. The neck is straightand well set with no indications of ever having been off etc. The frets are clean, and ultimately it yields a plenty reasonable action that measures 4/64" in height at the twelfth fret. Mostly Klusons Deluxe tuners - that otherwise may have read "Ric Deluxe"; with one of the first and second string tuners each having been replaced in a past life. As previously mentioned, the guitar had a headstock crack prior to its arrival to us, which has since been well repaired. The half slotted headstock is interesting, and functional for the double coursed set of tuners, albeit with the tuners, non-problematically, *slightly* larger than the side profile width of the headstock.

Includes original hardshell case.
