Used by the likes of Chris Squier of Yes and Paul McCartney, Rickenbacker basses have become a favored tool for countless musicians and studios. With wide range of tones from thumping to subtle, aggressive to woody, they can be found in nearly every genre of music and have become a favored choice for many seasoned players.
This example comes to us from the original owner, and was used very sparingly and kept in fantastic condition. The neck is nice and straight with no fret wear, and is setup with D'Addario Tape wound strings - giving it a nice vintage attack, with plenty of sustain and low end. Cosmetically it is in excellent shape with hardly any surface wear present.
The Rickenbacker 4003 and its counterpart the 4001 have been some of the most popular basses in history. The 4003 is virtually the same as the 4001 model, with differences in neck design and its pickups / wiring. The 4003 has a bit of a punchier tone than the 4001 predecessor, with higher output and a different set of tone capacitors. The modern versions of these basses, like this example, also feature a nice and convenient tone push pull tone pot, giving the player an option for the "Vintage" or "Modern" circuit path. Rick-O-Sound output jack for even more flexibility.
The neck constructed of two piece maple, bound and with its typical rosewood fingerboard, has a hefty feel to it with broad shoulders to its profile, measuring about .90" thick with virtually no taper. Standard 33.25" scale length.
Weighs 9.5lbs.
Includes the original hardshell case.
