Some guitars live luxuriously amongst a collection of pristine collectors whom treat them with utmost respect & care, some guitars do not. While we don't know exactly where this came from, one could assume it may have been Pete Townshend. This Rickenbacker 360/12 has been through the ringer, but one might not exactly see it from the body alone. While the body is in fairly good condition, with a swapped out tailpiece, original pickups and pots (with correct 40th week of '66 codes), as well as an accurate jack plate - it has been converted over to a 6 string likely at the time of it's very questionable headstock repair. The neck angle is fairly straight, and yields decent playability, the frets leveled, the fingerboard and binding intact with very worn finish - the headstock broke and was repaired with a combination of a rosewood plank, wood filler and hope. The headstock angle is fairly comical, but it actually in its current state will tune right up (with its newly added Kluson "style" tuners).
With current prices on these models upwards of $5000, it could certainly be a worthy investment for the right luthier or tech to inspect and possibly regraft.
