Designed by Mike Battle one of the original builder of the famed Maestro Echoplex - "The Plex" is an honest reissue of an original EP-2. The EP-2 is notoriously known as one of the best tape echos ever created, used on countless recordings from Sun studios throughout the 1960's, and later replaced by it's solid-state brother, the EP-3. The tone of an EP-2 is a beautiful history lesson in the heyday of rock & roll, warm, soupy tape-y repeats, with the preamp section that has been copied by pedal builders for decades. Mild overdrive, slapback, sound-on-sound, and psychedelic oscillations only begin to describe the sonic glory this unit can achieve. This unit, reissued by it's original builder around the turn of the millenium, is an accurate reissue of the famed EP-2, albeit with more modern parts and reliability. It sounds and functions as it should. It is fitted in a similar casing to the original, this example is in next to new shape with virtually no wear in the tolex or handle. It comes with extra tubes and extra original EchoPlex tape loops. Includes footswitch.
