The Peerless guitar factory of Korea is almost something a bit of legend. Having produced instruments for just about every major manufacturer, it only makes sense that their builders have a special talent for these things. The internet has long championed Peerless produced instruments in many a niche forum - but in 2013, the brand began building instruments clearly touting the name - no longer thru the veil of serial number encoding. The Retromatic has an immediate modern D'Angelico sort of flair, complete with the art deco iconography, from its pickguard to its truss rod cover. The single cut semi-hollow electric sports a P90 in the neck and a humbucker in the bridge, with a simple master Volume and tone layout (with a three way switch), while other iterations would even include a varitone circuit of sorts. This particular example setup with a roller saddle and a stop tail - a bit of an unusual combination, but we'll take it. A set neck design, one might notice how elevated the strings are off the body, which adds a bit to the acoustical nuance of this intriguing retro themed axe. The near turquoise finish looks suitable for a party and even really a bit charming. It sits comfortably with a thin body 1.75" in depth, and a 15" lower bout. Sonically speaking this guitar has rock & roll rasp, but enough delicateness that a jazzer would even be pretty impressed with the P90. The neck is designed with a 24.75" scale, which is nice and quick, even in the upper most registers thanks to the deep cutaway. Split MOP block inlays look great rosewood fingerboard, all seen here in next to new condition, having likely been used very sparringly by the original owner. The neck plays great with even low action that measures a mere 4/64" in height at the twelfth fret. A very nice instrument that punches far above the asking price. Includes original hardshell case.
