Dated to March 2022 on its interior label, this fine mandolin comes to us in great shape from the previous owner with only mild cosmetic wear present, and otherwise like new. This example is constructed with a nice spruce top and elegant flamed maple back and sides. Internally, this 2I example sports the minimal 2 tone bar bracing pattern, allowing for a more open and a harmonically rich voice, with plenty of bass depth and clarity. It's deep burst finish is done in a varnish for malleability, and is fully bound. A high quality and durable Gilchrist tailpiece rounds out this advanced player.
The neck, constructed out of maple is fitted with a nice ebony fingerboard, bound with frets that show almost no wear. The elegant leaf pattern peg head inlay is a nice touch on a fantastic instrument.
While being used, it comes to us in fantastic shape less two subtle nicks in its top (see photos). The neck is nice and straight with frets that show no wear. The setup is even and easy, expected for one this young (again dating to 2022).
A great way to save one what could be one of the favorites in the shop!
