This Mandolin while being in very rough cosmetic shape, is actually a pretty decent player. Constructed with a spruce top with an oval sound hole and laminate maple back & sides - it is designed with a pretty extreme neck angle, which allows a nice tall bridge with quite a bit of down pressure on the saddle. What this means is it actually has a pretty nice and loud tone that comes through. This mandolin likely spent a lot of time in the hands of someone who ultimately had neglected it, as the frets are overall very clean, but throughout the finish has lifted, discolored and chipped from likely a number of falls - but appears structurally pretty strong. A nice woody tone with the extra volume thanks to the neck angle and the oval sound hole, it has a very "real" vintage look to it, for it being likely only about 20 or so years old. Currently, the neck is very straight, with a functional truss rod, with PLENTY of room on the thumb screws of the saddle for any further adjusting - with action that is very low and playable. The frets have a few high spots, likely needing to be seated properly - a decision best left to the next owner, as right now it sounds pretty good throughout. Missing a truss rod cover screw. A decent instrument for a beginner or for any multi instrumentalist looking for a cheap beater mandolin. Being sold as-is, all sales final, and priced accordingly. No case.
