An interesting plectrum banjo likely from right around 1940. Likely built in England, with a slotted peg head, and during a time of high popularity in folk songs, that was then shipped to Thailand - where its small tin "MGNI" peg head logo was tacked into place. The banjo has a 25.5" long scale painted black pear wood neck, with dot inlays for a diatonic Major scale for each string (slightly confusing at first, but meant to be perceived like a dulcimer). The neck has replaced frets, and significant forward relief. An 8" skin head, this banjo has a very interesting and decorated rim with a thin resonator - resulting in a bright, tinny sound as one would likely expect. The rim features a metal solider with a long bow & arrow - a particularly interesting piece of yesteryear.
