Local Rochester luthier Bob McGonnell did the OM right. Finger style players often times prefer the OM models, as the smaller body compliments detail and articulation well, something that McGonnell has captured with this example we're proud to showcase. Three dimensional basses with glistening high end, this is quite the instrument. Constructed with a European Spruce top with East Indian rosewood back & sides, it has some familiarity by looking well at the past, while modern players will appreciate the instruments side sound port - allowing the player to hear the finer details even more - and an added bonus for recording enthusiasts. The body is bound with a fine herringbone/ebony/curly maple that adds another level of charm and artisanship that all can appreciate. Internally, it has a scalloped, light spruce bracing with a thin maple bridge plate. The neck is made of Honduran Mahogany, and designed with a 24 5/8" scale length. Great for finger style, it has a 1 7/8" nut width. The profile measures .87" in depth at the first position and tapers up to about 1" at the eleventh fret - all fairly standard but a bit heftier given the wider nut width. Martin-esque inlay pattern in the ebony fingerboard, it is outfitted with a pearl nut and gold fret wire (not EVO). The neck angle is great yielding proper action and stability, the action measuring an industry standard 6/64" in height at the twelfth fret of the sixth string and 5/64" on the first. The bone saddle stands tall atop the ebony bridge. Slot headstock design relieves some weight, and the open gear Waverly tuners are built to last. A finely made boutique instrument! Bravo McGonnell!
