A player favorite! The D-28 is maybe the most player favorite dreadnaught from the Martin product line - and for good reason. The finely upgraded Rosewood back & sides makes it a true cannon for flat pickers and singer songwriters alike. This D-28 dating to 1971 is no exception - clear and loud bass response with a nicely balanced high end. Very well cared for, with a recent neck reset, its easy playability and great sonics will impress its next owner.
Traditional X bracing with typical large rosewood bridge plate, this guitar still retains the large sound we know and love in a 28. It comes to us in great shape, well maintained, with light cosmetic wear, small nicks present in the body (see photos) all typical wear for a guitar this age. Non adjustable truss rod, the neck is still in good shape and is very straight. Original multi-ply binding appears is in great condition, less some discoloration present through the finish.
As mentioned, this guitar has had its neck reset. The neck plays great, is straight with factory spec action that measures 6/64" in height at the twelfth fret of the sixth string, and 5/64" on the first. The replaced saddle stands tall, with about 6/64" visible above the slot. The neck measures about .90" thick at the first position and about 1" at the eleventh before the curvature of the heel. It has a 1 11/16" nut width. Original Grover tuners present. Only light evidence of the reset present in the fingerboard extension, and that its missing its plastic heel cap.
Comes with the original molded plastic hardshell case.
