Designed for EXTRA huge tone, the D12-35's is the 12 string version of the classic 35. This is a lovely older example dating to 1968, featuring nice straight grained Brazilian rosewood, something this year is a bit known for. The 35 model was introduced in 1965 as an interesting alternative to the ever popular D-28. By building a three piece back, the company was able to use what smaller pieces they had of the exotic wood.
This early example has a robust tone that we know and love out of this era. This guitar is in good condition with some past repair work, yielding a good player. The top in very clean condition overall, with one sealed crack south of the pickguard toward the waist. The pickguard has been removed and reglued as well, which is hardly noticeable. Cosmetically, it is very clean with only surface wear present. The back and sides are very clean, and made of fairly figured Brazilian rosewood. Insignificant surface scratches and a few dings are present on its back & sides. Internally the bracing is strong, and has the original bridge plate in good condition.
The neck is straight, and yields a nice playable low action that measures about 6/64" in height at the twelfth fret on the sixth string, and about 5/64" on the first. Clean frets and fingerboard. The profile of the neck is a comfortable C, that is very clean.
