A meticulously handcrafted fine guitar from Martin. Now discontinued, these retired models have a well regarded reputation amongst players and collectors. 1939 is a well highly regarded year, with these reissue models featuring the same neck profile design as the original, as well as the rear shifted X bracing. Not only does this guitar look fantastic, it has all the sound one would want from a 000 - with excellent definition, balance and volume.
The 000-42 is constructed with an Adirondack Spruce with VTS top, fully bound in the 42 styling multi ply pearl binding. As mentioned previously, this model has the rear shifted X bracing accurate to a real deal '39, with a thin maple bridge plate, golden era kerfing, and scalloped tone bars. The back and sides are made of beautiful Madagascar Rosewood, with straight grain and a nice marquetry center strip.
The neck is constructed with a 24.9" scale length. 1 11/16" nut width and built out of a fine Mahogany with a fully bound ebony fingerboard with authentic 1939 spec snowflake inlay. The neck plays wonderfully with a comfortable, era correct C profile.
Cosmetically, this guitar is in like new condition, with hardly a mark on it. The neck is nice and straight with a strong neck set and a tall original saddle. Very mild wear is present in the finish alongside the binding at the first position of the fingerboard.
Includes original hardshell case and paperwork.
