The Martin single 0 size is a favorable finger style player, with a smaller body design - and seen here with the simple 18 appointments. Constructed with a Spruce top and Mahogany back - these have a nice warm and balanced tone. This wartime example dates to 1945, and comes to us in overall very good condition with a newer hardshell case.
The spruce top on this example has a nice grain, with some typical nicks and dings for an 80 year old instrument. Pickwear is present near the original guard - which also is in good shape. The top is free of cracks or any repairs. The Mahogany used for the back and sides is also free of cracks, albeit with more buckle rash and again typical nicks and dings. Internally, this has a standard light x bracing pattern. The original bridge and saddle are present, the saddle having been taken down slightly (still standing tall) with about 4/64" visible above the slot.
The neck yields a medium action, currently measuring 6/64" in height at the twelfth fret on the sixth string, and about 5/64" on the trebles. In its current state, the guitar is very playable, The fingerboard is in great condition, and its original frets are strong with only mild wear overall. Original tuners present with cream buttons functioning just as they should. The neck has a thicker profile, which feels like a chunky C in the open position, tapering with a very very subtle soft V (standard for the era). The neck measures .88" in thickness at the first position. It has a standard 25" scale length, with a 1 11/16" nut width.
A nice robust small body guitar, in good fighting shape, priced well for the right player or collector of wartime era instruments.
