While "few" might be familiar with the name Jerry Auerswald, his guitar designs are legendary... just look to Prince. Auerswald famously built the Symbol guitar. Auerswald's philosophies on an instruments personality seemed to perfectly align with that of the artist formerly known as Prince. That introspection into what an instrument represents, is something that Auerswald would continue even into his production instruments, not just the one-offs. Completely non-derivative, this unique model, the MA-EG is certainly an instrument that forces the player to investigate their own approach, all the while, providing a myriad of tones thanks to its rotary control. Used, this guitar comes to us in very good shape having been used sparingly as a studio tool. A matte black finish with satin chrome hardware, it has a slight retro futuristic look that compliments the shape. "Madarozzo" written on the side, almost as a reminder that you are utilizing this instrument as a tool - and that it is not necessary for it to be compared directly to other guitars. A three way switch is easy to get along with, alongside simple Volume and Tone controls - the magic is in the rotary middle control, which changes values of the split coil humbucker. A versatile, funky machine, it can go from thick tones to super quacky. Unique bridge design, the guitar has a lot of sustain, with nice upper harmonics. A long tenon neck thru design is sleek, and plays well and easily into the upper register. The neck is designed with a 23 fret ebony fingerboard, 0 fret nut, simple but thoughtful MOP dot inlay - all on a comfortable slim C profile with a 25.5" scale. Easy to play, it has low action that measures a low 3-4/64" in height at the twelfth fret. Locking tuners round out a very cool and unique instrument. Includes a poly foam case which has been modified to fit the top horn. A bang for the buck!
