A real deal 80's shredder! The Chaparral model was Hamers double cut super strat, outfitted with a factory H-S-S setup, and Kahler. Unlike the Fender counter parts in the era of heavy metal and shred, the Hamer has a set maple neck with a shorter Gibson scale - a nice touch not commonly seen for similar instruments. Dive bombs galore, and easy action can result in some bombastic playing, and surely something that is just pure fun when coupled with the right amp and overdrive. This example comes to us in good shape having a recent setup with easy playability. The body, as mentioned is derived from a traditional Strat shape, but is outfitted here with three humbuckers which appear original. The neck and middle being single coil sized double rail pickups look quite a bit like the OBL pickups Hamer had used around this time, the bridge stamped Hamer USA with a gold base plate appears to be an original DiMarzio wound "Slammer" model - a nice well regarded hot humbucker. The wiring appears original, retaining original Hamer stamped CTS pots which are dated to 1988. The ink stamped serial beginning with a "6" might imply an initial body build of '86, but the pots would say otherwise. Original On-Off-Phase switches all work as inteded. The guitar is designed with a set neck at 24.75" scale length, and is outfitted with the original Kahler. The Kahler is standing strong and appears non problematic with its current setup. The neck has 24 fret range and is made of maple (seen from some of the paint chipping) with what appears to be a rosewood fingerboard. The frets have had a fairly recent level and crown and are quite zippy. The action measures a daring 3/64" in height at the twelfth fret. Original locking nut is in tact and functions as it should. Cosmetically, this guitar has some wear, expected for its age and the means of how they were finished. Light overcoats would flake off, as seen at this ones peg head - making it a read deal relic. The body has some checking and light finish cracks, but overall is in good shape. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Includes a gig bag!
