During Guilds resurgence in the 1990's, the brands flagship answer to the Gibson L5CES, was their X-500 model - which would later in the mid 90's be upgraded to the 700 model. The X-700 is a very nicely upgraded full hollow, carved top guitar (with laminate back & sides) second only to their Artist Award series. With high grade build qualities, the X-700 would replace the 500 model with similar build qualities - and sometimes go by the name "Stuart" according to the original catalogs, even though it is not present on the label.
While being heavier built than the vintage Gibson counter parts, this X-700 has very surprising acoustic tone that would be very useable for the right player. Plugged in, this guitar really shines, with a nice warm and punchy tone that really any arch top pursist would find pleasing. This example comes to us hardly used, in very well maintained condition. Aesthetically, this is a really clean example, that plays great too boot.
Designed with a comfortable 25" scale length, this is a nice option jazz box for most players used to a longer or shorter scale length. The 17" body is substantial, with a 3 3/8" depth (at the end pin), slightly thicker towards the neck. The guitar is in cosmetically very clean condition, with simple light surface scratches present - but nothing troubling. The laminate maple back & sides are clean and very three dimensional.
The maple neck is thin and speedy, fully bound, this model with its rounded fingerboard extension. The profile of the neck measures about .86" at the first position tapering up to about 1" at the 11th fret. The fingerboard and frets are clean with no issues - easy to play low action measuring about 4/64" in height at the twelfth fret, currently setup with round wound 12's.
This guitar shines when plugged in, with a nice robust and punchy tone - suitable for all kinds of jazz playing. Original Seymour Duncan pickups sound great and all the wiring appears untouched.
Comes with the original hardshell case.

Weighs 7.8lbs.
