A great deal for a vintage American made guitar! The Guild flat top acoustics have been some of the most revered in the vintage market, with a growing popularity, typically due to their "bang for the buck" nature. The D-25, is a very nice Mahogany dreadnaught with all the standard nuts & bolts to impress even discerning players. This D-25 model dates accurately to 1968, which puts it Hoboken period for the company. This example features a solid Mahogany top with multi ply binding. The back and sides, are made of mahogany stained a nice deep red. Internally, it has a standard X scalloped bracing pattern with a large thin maple bridge plate. The lower bout measures 15.75" across, with a depth of 4 7/8" at the butt end and about 3 7/8" at the heel. Cosmetically, this example is in very good condition, with fairly light wear present, and some scratches behind the bridge - the finish a fairly high gloss, shows swirls and light pick wear primarily - free of cracks. The original saddle has been taken down a, resulting in very playable action measuring about 5/64" in height at the twelfth fret. The neck is designed with a 25.5" scale length, and a 1 11/16" nut width. The neck is nice and straight, the frets low leveled, it plays with ease currently - but the next owner might consider a refret. Original plate tuners present and functional. The profile is clean with some light nicks present. The peg head veneer is very clean, and not lifting like many others from the era. Includes original chipboard case.
