A pre-war Gibson is a rare bird in the age of collecting, and this Tenor Guitar version of the L-7 is something that is pretty rare in the catalog.
A full size 17" arch top, constructed with a fully bound Spruce top in classic sunburst finish the back of dark stained flamed maple - this example comes to us in very good condition with expected checking, and only light play wear and no structural damage. The top retains a nice arch, with the original rosewood bridge flush with the top. Internally, this example is X braced, something that would change to parallel bracing only a year later. Original nickel 4 string hanger tailpiece present and in good condition. Replaced tort pickguard present - nicely accurate to an original with cream binding.
The neck is designed with a 23" scale length, composed of a mahogany profile with a bound rosewood fingerboard - seen here with original picture frame inlay. The frets, planed low, all play great singing in each register without issue. The binding is still strong throughout this example. The action is nice and low measuring 5/64" in height at the twelfth fret of the fourth string, and only 4/64" on the first. Gibson script logo with decoration in nice condition at the peg head veneer. Replaced Grover open gear tuners present.
Includes newer TKL hardshell case.
