This is a very RARE original 5 string banjo with trap-door resonator and ball bearing tone ring. The moccasin peghead shape is the signature of these early Gibsons. It is all original and equipped with the engraved tailpiece, and original bridge. The 10.5" diameter rim is fitted with the early perforated tonering which, in combination with the trapdoor "resonator" delivers a very distinct timbre. The 26-1/4" scale maple neck has an unbound ebony fingerboard with dot inlay pattern; original friction tuners.
