Wonderful conversion to five string utilizing a Gibson Kel Kroydon KK-11 rim assembly and high quality neck by unknown maker, from a line of budget priced instruments produced for Jenkins Music Co (Kansas City) by Gibson from 1929-31; a fantastic conversion, with dark, punchy tone. The blue painted rim assembly measures 11", is of multi-ply construction measuring 5/8" thick, with original one piece flange, tension hoop, hooks/nuts (one replaced); rim was turned down to fit an unmarked 20 hole flat-head tonering (we are unable to remove it from the rim to determine it's origin), with gold oval label present; double bound resonator appears original albeit heavily modified (screen printed Rose motif on back replaced pearloid, later resonator lugs w/ 2x notches on interior wall, deepened neck slot); areas of finish touchup, refinish, and overspray present, with some checking beneath, with areas of delamination on rim plys at 7pm position, and slightly around interior walls of resonator. The 26-1/4" scale neck was built in period style, with blue paint, bound rosewood fingerboard, with inlaid pearl in Hearts and Petals pattern, w/ double-cut peghead containing Gibson script, pearloid truss rod cover; thick finish checking is present, with large blotchy areas of likely heat-related finish damage on back of neck; small area of replaced binding; equipped with planetary style geared tuners w/ one replaced button.
