Manufactured in the original Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, this square shoulder J-50 Deluxe is a fine example of the dreadnaughts Gibson was making in the 1970s. It features an beautiful thin orangey spruce top and mahogany sides and back. The neck is a comfortable slim C shape with a rosewood fingerboard and dot inlays and 1 11/16" nut width. The bridge is ebony and the tuners are a unique sea foam green tulip shape klussen that contrasts the orange top quite nicely. The action is on the low side measuring 7/64" on the low E and 5/64" on the high E (measured at the 12th fret). There has been a few cracks repaired. The cracks under the bridge have been repaired with cleats and the cracks by the pickguard have been glued and sealed. There is a piece of the rossette missing on the treble side by the pickguard and what appears to be a binding repair on the lower bout on the bass side. The back has a small bubble in the finish as well. There is some finish checking consistent across the top and less on the back and sides and headstock. Overall this guitar plays and sounds wonderful and is old enough to have some whiskers on it. Comes with hardshell case.
