Originally introduced as Gibson's highest end flat top in 1937, the Gibson Super Jumbo 200 - would maintain as one of the most sought after instruments from the company for now close to a century. Production quantities would be small for these coveted high end instruments, with varying design elements changing throughout the eras since its inception.
This example revisits the highly revered 1940-50's era instrument, with the Maple and Red Spruce construction combination that continues to impress players and collectors alike The large 16 7/8" body with its colorful pickguard and iconic mustache bridge would be used by strummers and songwriters looking for a powerful cannon of a guitar for accompaniment. It has a 25.25" scale length, a rosewood fingerboard, fully bound with pearloid crown inlay.
Sonically this is an impressive guitar as one would expect. Powerful and rich, it has a great balanced voice that would serve the right singer.
This particular example comes to us in great condition, having been used sparingly by its original owner. Cosmetically, only light surface wear is present, with very mild checking visible near the rear side of the headstock. It has a nicely flamed Maple back & sides with the traditional scalloped X braced Spruce top. The neck angle is great from the factory (a nice high time for the Gibson Acoustic shop), yielding easy to play action measuring 6/64" in height at the twelfth fret of the sixth string, and 5/64" for the first string. The frets are like new with no wear and clean nibbed binding. Original Gold tuners present, with "Gibson Historic Collection" at the back of the peg head.
Includes the original hardshell case.
