The EH-150 amp is recognized as one of the first electric guitar amps ever made. This model would become synonymous as the Charlie Christian model - making these amplifiers are an excellent choice for a vintage jazz purist. It couples beautifully with any jazzbox, providing a clean tone with very light break-up, nice compression, and a substantial amount of volume.
Cosmetically this example is in good condition for its age, showing expected wear to its lacquered tweed tolex - which is fairly faded and discolored. The original leather handle, corners, and the metal latches are in fine shape and still functional. The faceplate is in good condition, with some scuffing present around the power switch and some light wear on the other pieces. The cool engraved lettering on the faceplate is all in excellent condition. The metal hardware is free of rust and has a beautiful aged patina.
Most of the original components are present, including Triad transformers, black RCA Radiotron tubes, and the original 10" field coil speaker. This amp has seen some routine service in the past, with new filter capacitors being the only major update, as one would expect with an amp of this age. A nice and long 3 prong power cord is a welcome addition. A pair of Sovtek 5881/6L6’s replace the original output tubes.
This is an excellent, unique & interesting piece of yesteryear.
