If there was ever an electric guitar to rule them all, it might be the classic Gibson double-neck EDS-1275 - I mean hey, its two guitars in one! A rock & roll staple used by many, it features the iconic SG look with the 6 string neck on bottom, and 12 string chiming in on top - it's the one instrument that can certainly lead you to the stairway of heavenly tone. All jokes aside, these are ridiculously cool instruments (pun intended).
The 162236 serial implies a fairly early example that would appropriately date to 1974. All pots appear original less the second volume, which was likely replaced a long time ago - all of their dates, except one, are obscured by original solder joints. The one visible pot date code dates accurately to 1970 (likely left over stock). The bookmatched Mahogany SG body is nice and clean, less some typical nicks and dings (see photos). A light finish separation is present at the book match center seam on its back, nothing structural and hardly visible.
Very much original example, it further retains original hardware, less a well replaced, era accurate set of tuners on the 6 string neck. Original binding is clean and crack free with slight finish separation present, but nothing troubling. Era correct three piece maple necks (5 at the peg head) are in great condition all around with clean profiles and fairly hefty volutes - nice and straight yielding exceptional action and playability. The frets, fingerboard, and inlay are about as clean as they get, original retaining much of their sculpted nibbed binding. As previously mentioned, the tuners on the 6 string neck have been replaced at some point in its history, but a previous owner had brought it back to original intentions, having Kluson Deluxe stamped tuners currently present. Some wear is visible in the peg head veneer from the swap, as well as additional holes from the previous tuner install (possibly Grover). Original Gibson Deluxe stamped Klusons present on the 12 string neck.
The action of the 6 string currently measures approximately 4/64" in height at the twelfth fret with a hair of room on the saddle. The twelve string neck measures about the same with about 5/64" at the twelfth fret of the sixth string, again with a hair of room for lower adjustment (not needed).
Includes an appropriate modern 1275 Gibson Custom case.
