German brand Framus, has always had a way with impressing keen eyed and eared players - notably making "better than one would expect" copies of everything from Gibson & Fender. Their arch top guitar line was quite expansive, with models ranging from the Sorella (a more standard model) to the "Florida", "Missouri", or "Black Rose" models. The Venetian cut "Sorella" model, otherwise known as the 03100, was a flagship for the company. Constructed with a laminate spruce, it has their standard burst finish, with a 25" scale length, bolt-on, multi-ply neck. 1 23/32" nut width and a D profile, it has a classic heavy duty vintage feel. The neck measures .86" with broad shoulders at the first position, that tapers up to about 1" at the twelfth fret. This particular example is one such guitar that punches far beyond its price point. Sonically impressive with a great voice for jazz thanks to this aftermarket first year DeArmond Monkey-on-a-stick, it's a great instrument for any guitarist looking for a quality jazz box that won't hurt the wallet. Acoustically this guitar actually has a very nice and open tone for a laminate build. Thumpy with a good chop, one will be impressed with its definition and overall note clarity and sustain. While this particular example is a bit unique in that it does not have a typical Sorella tailpiece or fingerboard, it does have the standard multi-ply Framus neck with a rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays, as well as a nice frequensator style tailpiece. The guitar is set up very well albeit with its bridge fairly bottomed out. The rosewood base with a metal top with thumb screws, the saddle is not very adjustable. The action currently measures 5-6/64" in height at the twelfth fret, which is basically the current industry standard. The neck is straight and the frets are very clean overall (having likely had a level and crown recently). Includes hardshell case.
