The Fender Vibrolux Reverb became one of the brands models which was quickly popular amongst players, sporting a great wattage for clean headroom, in a not overly heavy cabinet like its big brother the Twin Reverb. We are pleased to have this example which accurately dates to October of 1966. Loud, clean and with just the right bit of natural compression, this amp would serve well in nearly any studio or live setting as a great plug & play amp, or for the right pedal platform.
Cosmetically this amp is in great shape with minimal wear in its tolex, mainly at its corners - and maintains a clean grill and faceplate. It features earlier Jensen Special design C10 speakers (C8284 model, 220607 date codes), which are well recognized as being some of the finest speakers Fender used in this era. They are punchy & bright, and deliver a well-balanced bass response. Internally this amp has had some necessary repair work done, but is well preserved overall. A few electrolytic caps have been swapped to modern Nichicon replacements, and the filter cap section has all been swapped over professionally (also all Nichicon). It still has the "death" cap present, but best left to its next owner if they feel the need to swap it. Original '66 Schumacher Transformers are present dating as they should to 35th week of '66. Unique CBS change is present, having a "Better Coil & Transformer” brand choke (022921) which appropriately dates to 37th week of '66. Mix of tubes is present & well biased, including Mesa, Soviet & Groove Tubes.
