Introduced in 1960, Leo Fender's "Jazz Bass" styled after the Jazzmaster guitar, would go on to being a flagship for the brand and for musical instrument history. A bit more aggressive than its Precision counterpart, these instruments would become a staple in just about any context, but shine beautifully for Funk, Pop, Rock and even Heavy Metal. A slightly narrowed neck, they play speedy, and with their single coil locations are able to cut a bass through a dense mix with a captivating and denied tone.

This example dates accurately to 1962, albeit having been refinished in yesteryear. A typical scene, it has a natural finish currently, having originally been a three tone burst (visible in its cavities). This player ready example has a recent re-fret, and plays wonderfully, with one of the most comfortable real deal relic'd necks we've had through the shop doors.

The two piece alder body has some really attractive grain, and its natural finish shows some expected checking, nicks and dings. A replaced plastic strap button is present . Original hardware including bridge, control plate and stunning 3 ply tortoise pickguard. The electronics are original but it appears the pots were swapped with some older WD options at some point in its history. No pull bar present, but holes are drilled through the guard. Original mute holes are visible between bridge pickup and bridge - mutes are no included, nor any pickup or bridge cover. Significant thumb wear is present near the pickguard. The body is clean and the finish appears to have been taken down well without damaging or altering the body.

The neck is stamped 7JUN62A, denoting its 1.5" "A" nut width. The neck is nice and straight and plays fantastic with easy low action that measures 5/64" in height at the twelfth fret. The maple on the necks profile has worn down and feels and plays great. Slab rosewood fingerboard is present, with a virtually untouched truss rod. The fingerboard is clean, and as previously mentioned, it has been regretted (relatively recently). The frets are very clean with hardly any wear present. The rosewood fingerboard is nice and smooth and features the original clay dots. Original clover tuners present and nicely functional. Original Fender decal is in strong condition, with some expected 60+ year old grime and small nicks present.

Strung up with round wound strings, this bass is a really fantastic player with everything most would want from a classic Jazz.
