The Epiphone ET-290 guitars were solid body guitars produced during the mid 1970's at the Matsumoku plant in Japan. The decision was made to cease production of Kalamazoo Epiphones in favor of building them overseas in Japan. These models copy the look of the Wilshire and Crestwood models, with lesser quality but still vibe 70's Japanese parts. A fun smaller speedy guitar, it has a 24.75’ scale like that of a Fender Jaguar. Fender-esque bolt on neck, it attaches to the body similar to Gibson SG at the 21st fret. The smaller neck profile is comfortable for smaller hands or shredder players. Gibson style tune-o-matic bridge, it is fit with two humbucker sized pickups (it is believed that these are actually one single coil under their cover). A nice blues-y tone, the neck pickup has a darker higher output sound that works well with pushing an amp. The bridge pickup thins out a bit, but still has plenty of output and compliments well. This guitar is setup well with a nice straight neck and low action, suitable for any rock player it actually is quite the versatile instrument. A great budget choice for a beginner or advancing guitarist, or for someone looking for a different and unique tone to tinker with. Includes the original chipboard Epiphone branded case.
