Remarkably early Eclipse model from William Cole, one of the earliest examples from the maker we've seen following the Fairbanks and Cole separation, with rare Patent Applied For stamps on dowel stick (application 3/30/1893, granted 1/30/1894). The thin/ spun over rim measures 11.5" in diameter, is equipped with Cole's neck adjuster/ferrules, with original pointed shoes, hex shoe screws, grooved tension hoop/hooks and nuts (missing 2x hooks and nuts, with one screw/washer for shoe screw), setup with Elite tailpiece; some gap between plys on rim present; serial number present on dowel, faintly on rim behind). The 27" scale mahogany neck has an ebony fingerboard, 1-5/16" nut width, and is equipped with Champion friction tuners. Notable cosmetic wear present on buttons, back of neck/peghead, with hairline separations on overlay; simple saw cut pearl inlay similarly seen on F&C Imperial models. Forward relief present, but a nice old timey banjo with plenty of pop and history
