Top line instrument by the former partner of A. C. Fairbanks. When William Cole split from Fairbanks to form his own company, he patented the Eclipse model in 1894. These banjos are extremely well crafted and include a tonering which is integrated into the wood rim. They have a sound all of their own. This particular instrument has a 10 3/8 inch rim with original hardware and 27 inch scale neck. The fingerboard inlays are especially fine making this banjo in direct competition to the Fairbanks top of the line electrics. The peghead is richly inlaid with an engraved pearl man in the moon and shooting star. Equipped with original, violin style friction tuners.
