Burny guitars began in 1969, becoming more noticed in the 80's under ownership of Fernandez. Fernandez, a Japanese manufacturer would make copies of many Fender guitars - something that has seen a huge resurgence amongst players in recent years. The Burny line primarily would make Gibson style copies like this Custom model we have here. Many prominent musicians would find a Burny in their hands during the 80's - notably Robert Fripp - who would use this specific model that was very similar to the Gibson counter part. With the stock Sustainer pickup in the neck - many adventurous and disciplined players (see what I did there?) will appreciate the sonic palette and inspiration that this guitar can beckon. While appearing very similar to a Les Paul Custom, this example sports the iconic ebony finish with multi ply cream binding (just like the one Fripp used). Original lacquer finish is in good condition with hardly a mark on it, less some superficial nicks present that are not too visible. Factory electronics present, it has Volume and Tone, with two mini toggles for engaging the sustainer magnet that is present in the neck pickup position - allowing for eBow like tones with two octave range. The neck is designed with a Gibson standard 24.75" scale length, presumably out of mahogany like that on the body, in a standard set neck setup. The bound rosewood fingerboard has block MOP inlay, this example with new frets that play easily. It has a 1 23/32" nut width making complex chord fingerings feel a bit easier. The neck has a medium C profile that measures .86" in depth at the first position, tapering up to about .94" by the twelfth fret. All gold hardware, this one is setup with easy to play low action that measures about 4/64" in height at the twelfth fret, with plenty of room for adjustment at the bridge. The neck is straight the frets are clean, and this is ready for its next experimental album Includes a hardshell case.
