Originally owned & played by Kim Breedlove, one of the founding brains to the legendary company. This Alpine A style prototype is truly a work of art and expert craftsmanship. A fine variation on the classic snakehead, this Alpine Prototype has some elegant adornments throughout - including the abalone flying B peg head inlay & pearl dot inlays in its bound ebony fingerboard. Gorgeous fully bound flamed maple was used for the neck, back and sides. Its Sitka top has two unbound S holes. This instrument according to the accompanying letter from Kim Breedlove, inspired four more models that the brand would go on to create.
This very cool piece has been very well maintained by its previous owner, and includes the letter from Kim Breedlove. The neck is straight and plays with even low action, with minimal fret wear. Plenty of volume and chop, with a nice balance for single notes suitable for any soloist. An upgraded tone guard is present on its rear, allowing the instrument to speak a bit more clearly.
1.25" nut width, and typical 14" scale length.
Comes with a hardshell case.
