Dana Bourgeois has built a fantastic company, one that holds quality above all else. In a gracious nod to the fine guitars of yesteryear, the D Vintage takes a page from the classic herringbone book.
This "shade top" example is constructed with a nice Adirondack Spruce top, X braced with thoughtful scalloping. The type of guitar you can simply tap and know its going to sound good, it has a stunning two piece Indian rosewood back and sides with a zipper backstrip. A particular 25.6" "long" scale design, and 1 23/32" nut width - it plays fantastic - suitable for any flat picker looking for a vintage cannon without the price tag. The vintage *soft* V neck profile is comfortable and measures .84" thick in depth at first fret tapering up to about .96" by the twelfth fret. Open gear Wavery tuners work like a charm.
While playing this guitar once, one will wonder how amazing it will sound once its truly began to open up, having been used mildly overall. Setup like it came from the factory, it has a nice straight neck with only very mild fret wear present and light surface level scratches primarily on the back. The previous owner had a professionally installed LR Baggs Lyric microphone style pickup installed which is a great sounding fit.
