This is a well-made and rare a little banjo by the John Haynes/Baystate Company of Boston, Massachusetts. Piccolos banjos. were found in orchestras formed around the country to play the classic style. This banjo has a 7 inch, heavy spun over rim similar to Stewarts of the period. The neck has a black-stained finger board with pearl dot position markers. Set up with calf skin head, nylon strings. The fifth peg tuner is ebony, and the tuners in the peghead are a bit more recent but work very well. This one’s a great little player! Comes with a well-padded mandolin soft case.
