Recently built, traditional Akonting, the "grandaddy of them all", built upon a nice 11" diameter gourd with rudimentary cutouts. Written on the side of the gourd are names of members of the Jatta family, (Jules, Reme, Frederic) as well as Mlomp, Casamance (Senegal), and the date 7/2/2003. Three strings descend from the lightweight cane neck.
