Joe Beard and Bill Downen to Headline Next Concert in a New Folk Series at Downstairs Cabaret Theatre - The next program in a new concert series entitled “Rochester Folkus” featuring Folk, Traditional, Old-Time, Bluegrass, and other acoustic music will be held on April 11 at the Downstairs Cabaret Theatre, 20 Windsor Street, Rochester, NY. All concerts begin at 7 pm and occur on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of every month (with occasional exceptions). Reservations are accepted (but not required) and can be made by calling 585-325-4370. Joe Beard  is a Rochester blues icon and a member of the Rochester Music Hall of Fame. He has played with such blues legends as Son House, Memphis Slim, John Lee Hooker, and Muddy Watters. He even performed at the inaugural gala of George H.W. Bush! This will be rare opportunity to hear Joe perform a solo acoustic set, and you won’t want to miss it!

Opening the evening will be a set by local performer Bill Downen. Bill is a wonderful singer, songwriter, and guitarist with his own uniquely percussive guitar style. In addition to his own compositions, he sings creative interpretations of folk and country songs.
