Released in the late 1980's, the Yamaha line of APX guitars were a thoughtful and innovative piece of technology. Uniquely, these guitars have a stereo option, routing every other string to the 2nd channel. Using a stereo cable, one can send the EG&A strings to a separate channel allowing for really interesting sonic possibilities. A smaller OM-esque sized body is comfortable, measuring 15" across the lower bout of the shadow stained, bound body. A wood and abalone rosette looks great and the matching binding and gold hardware further indicate the high quality Yamaha was achieving. This guitar comes to us in good shape with functioning electronics. The neck is straight, the neck angle leaves a little to be desired, with medium action that measures 8/64" in height at the twelfth fret - not too bad, but a bit high. No case.
